Testing for Soundproofing

Providing noise solution services and products since 1994.

How effective is your soundproofing?

When testing soundproofing materials, there are a few key factors that need to be taken into account. When it comes to sound absorption, the material itself is one of the most important considerations. Certain materials, such as heavy fabric or thick rubber, have inherently sound-absorbing properties, whereas others simply absorb sound when they come into contact with sound waves. To be sure that your soundproofing is doing its job it is important to test.

Soundproofing adds to the structural integrity of a building or home, and if not completed properly can cause you problems in future whether that be costs for repair or non-compliance from a building code perspective. Our Acoustic Consultants can provide a full assessment, which includes reporting and as a result recommendations n ways that you can reduce noise or vibrations and stay compliant

How can we help with Testing?

Knowledge of the acoustic absorption levels of architectural materials and the behaviour of sound reverberation before construction can be vital. Acoustica Projects’ team of experts is available to visit a job site, conduct basic and advanced sound and vibration testing, analyse data, and provide reports with unbiased recommendations on how to solve any type of sound or noise control issue.

Methods that we apply include:

  • Noise Reduction Coefficient (NRC),
  • Sound Absorption Average (SAA),
  • Sound Transmission Class (STC), and
  • Outdoor/Indoor Transmission Class (OITC).

Field testing can also be conducted to measure the airborne sound attenuation between rooms in buildings and impact sound transmission through floor-ceiling assemblies.
